20 free locomotives from India
General Manager of Railways H.M.K.W.Bandara stated that it has been decided to provide 20 diesel engines which have been removed from use on the island along with the operation of the country’s railway system.
A team of railway department experts who visited India recently checked whether they can be run on the roads of this country. Accordingly, two locomotives are planned to be imported to Sri Lanka in February.
