Expansion of Colombo port upto Ja-Ela

President Ranil Wickramasinghe said that there are plans to extend the Colombo port to the canal and secondly, more than 30 acres of Colombo city have been allocated for the development of the port.

President stated that Sri Lanka can easily be transformed into a major supply center and that visionary steps are being taken for that purpose. That running a small port as it is currently done will not do much service to the economy, and that the port should be strategically promoted and Sri Lanka become a major supply center.

President Ranil Wickramasinghe said this while addressing the “2022 Economic Summit “held by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce at the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo.
