A father has been arrested for torturing a little girl to get money from his wife who is abroad

The girl’s father has been arrested and remanded in connection with an incident of brutally torturing a one-and-a-half-year-old girl in the Polonnaruwa area.

It has been further revealed that he sent a video of the girl crying in pain to the mother with the aim of getting money from the girl’s mother who is abroad.

The arrested suspect is 30-year-old Mahesh Roshan a resident of the Bakamoona Tharllewa Gamaela area.

The suspect was produced before the Higurakgoda Magistrate’s Court today(10) and remanded until the 20th.

Bakamoona police said that the girl has been handed over to her grandmother for her safety.
