Sri Lanka to Introduce Best Anti-Corruption Act in South Asia, Says President Wickremesinghe; Emphasizes Importance of IMF Credit Facility for Country’s Future

In a recent discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat with the heads of media organizations, President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that Sri Lanka is set to pass the best anti-Corruption Act in South Asia soon. The President revealed that the Bill has already received cabinet approval and will be presented to Parliament after discussions with Opposition representatives.

During the same discussion, President Wickremesinghe emphasized the importance of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Credit Facility for the future of Sri Lanka’s economy. He stated that it is crucial for the country to go ahead with the agreement and to show the creditors that Sri Lanka has accepted the principles included in the IMF agreement.

This marks the first occasion for Sri Lanka to restructure its economy with the support of the IMF and creditors, according to the President. The move towards anti-corruption legislation and the IMF agreement is seen as key steps in Sri Lanka’s economic development and growth.
