Major Gas Suppliers in Sri Lanka Slash Prices to Provide Relief to Consumers Ahead of Festive Season

In a move to provide relief to consumers amid the ongoing crisis, two of the largest liquefied petroleum (LP) gas suppliers in Sri Lanka, Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. and Laugfs Gas PLC, have announced a significant reduction in the prices of their domestic gas cylinders. The price reduction will be effective from midnight today, April 04.

According to the revised prices, Laugfs Gas PLC has slashed the price of its 12.5kg cylinder by Rs. 1,290, bringing it down to Rs. 3,990. Similarly, the price of its 5kg cylinder has been reduced by Rs. 516 and will now be available for Rs. 1,596.

Meanwhile, Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. has also reduced the prices of its domestic gas cylinders by a considerable amount. The price of its 12.5kg cylinder has been reduced by Rs. 1,005, bringing it down to Rs. 3,738. The price of its 5kg cylinder has been reduced by Rs. 402, and it will now be available for Rs. 1,502. The company has also reduced the price of its 2.3kg cylinder by Rs. 183, bringing it down to Rs. 700.

The companies have attributed the price reduction to the upcoming festive season and the recent appreciation of the Sri Lankan rupee against the US dollar. The move is expected to provide relief to the crisis-hit consumers who have been struggling with the high cost of living in recent times.
