Central Bank of Sri Lanka presents 73rd annual report on 2022 economic conditions

The Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr P Nandalal Weerasinghe, presented the 73rd Annual Report of the Monetary Board of the Central Bank to the President and Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization, and National Policies, Ranil Wickremesinghe. The presentation was made in accordance with Section 35 of the Monetary Law Act No. 58 of 1949. The event was attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mr Mahinda Siriwardana, and the Director and Additional Directors of the Economic Research Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, among others.
The 73rd Annual Report of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka is divided into four parts. The first part consists of eight chapters and 30 sub-chapters that explain the state of economic affairs in the year. The second part includes a collection of gazettes and circulars related to various policy measures taken by the government and the CBSL. The third part explains the departments of the CBSL and their roles, while the fourth part lists the laws and ordinances related to the banking system connected to the government and the CBSL.
According to Section 35 of the Monetary Law Act, the Monetary Board of the CBSL is required to produce an annual report on the economic conditions and policies taken for that year and submit it to the Minister of Finance within four months after the end of the relevant year.
