IMF to Continue Cost Recovery Measures for Sri Lanka’s Electricity and Fuel Pricing

In a special media briefing held with the visiting IMF staff team in Sri Lanka on May 15th, Sarwat Jahan, the IMF Resident Representative in Sri Lanka, announced that the cost recovery measures for both electricity and fuel pricing are expected to continue throughout the four-year IMF programme. This news comes as a relief to Sri Lankan citizens who were concerned about the potential price hikes in these essential commodities.
With this announcement, the Sri Lankan government can now focus on implementing other measures to improve the country’s economic situation, with the assurance of continued support from the IMF.
