India’s Unified Payment Process or UPI payment system will be introduced to Sri Lanka from tomorrow (12), says Foreign Affairs Minister Alisabri.
The Indian Unified Payments Process known as UPI was introduced by the National Payments Corporation of India in 2016 as an instant payment system.
This payment system will facilitate mobile, inter-bank, and person-to-person trade transactions, thereby improving tourism in Sri Lanka. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe are going to launch the related system online in Colombo.
