According to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, a special police committee has been appointed to find out whether there are people in Sri Lanka who are related to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group. Inspector General of Police Deshabandhu Tennakoon said this in response to questions raised last week regarding the arrest of four Sri Lankans suspected to be associated with ISIS in India. In an inquiry regarding the media reports that the suspects were involved in the 2019 Easter Sunday attack, Inspector General of Police Mr. Tennakoon said that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the claim.

The Sri Lankan security forces suspect that Osmand Gerrard acted as the handler of the four Sri Lankans who were arrested in India for allegedly having relations with ISIS.
Sri Lanka Police recently announced Rs. 2 million for any credible information on the whereabouts of the wanted suspect.
