Flood warning notices are issued

Due to the prevailing bad weather, flood warning notices have been issued for the low-lying areas around Kelani, Kalu, Ging and Nilwala rivers. Accordingly, the upper reaches of the Kalu Ganga have received significant rainfall and due to this, it is stated that in the next 48 hours, floods may occur in the low-lying areas of Palamadulla, Nivithigala, Kuruvita, Ayagama, Alapatha and Ratnapura Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Ratnapura District. Also, the Irrigation Department stated that flood warnings have been issued due to significant rainfall in Kalutara, Ging and Kelani Ganga upstream areas since last night.
