95 new ambulances in 1990 from TATA Sons and ADB

“1990 Suva Sariya Foundation” was started in 2016 with 297 ambulances obtained from TATA Sons (Pvt) Ltd in India under a grant from the Government of India to provide emergency treatment services promptly.

Currently, there are 322 ambulances, including 25 ambulances provided by the Sri Lankan government. It has been identified that 450 ambulances and 25 back-up ambulances are required to provide emergency services and currently, there is a shortage of 150 ambulances.
Accordingly, India’s TATA Sons (Pvt) Ltd has agreed to provide 50 ambulances as a free grant and the Asian Development Bank has agreed to provide 45 ambulances as a grant.
