Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, was killed in Iran
Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh has been assassinated in Tehran, the capital of Iran. One of his bodyguards was killed after the attack on the building where they were staying, the statement said. Israel has yet to confirm or deny the killing of Haniyeh, who was in Tehran to attend the inauguration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Speaking on Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel had dealt heavy blows to Iran’s proxies, including Hamas and Hezbollah, in recent days.
