Japanese Prime Minister Kishida resigns as party leader.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has resigned from the leadership of the country’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party.
Addressing a press conference in Tokyo, the Prime Minister announced that he will not contest the next leadership election of the ruling party in September.
The 67-year-old Kishida assumed leadership of the ruling party in September 2021, along with a three-year term as prime minister.
