Approval to import 70,000 metric tons of rice.
The cabinet has approved the import of 70,000 metric tons of rice as a short-term solution to the shortage of rice in the market.
Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe said that this rice will be imported through Lanka Sathosa and Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation.
