Millions of people in California are under a red Warning

Los Angeles declares a state of emergency as wildfires grow from 10 acres to 2,900 acres within hours. More than 30,000 people are under evacuation orders and 13,000 buildings are threatened. Homes on fire in Pacific Palisades, residents abandon cars to escape the blaze. The fire has begun to spread rapidly above Altadena near Eaton Canyon, about 40 kilometres inland from the Palisades.
