Upland train traffic has been disrupted due to the collapse of a mound of earth on the railway line between Haputale and Diyathalawa this morning. Due to this, the night mail train that came from Colombo to Badulla was stopped at Haputale. Accordingly, the Udarata Menike train, which was scheduled to run from Badulla to Fort at 05.45 in the morning, has not yet started its departure.
Also, the Podi Menike train scheduled to run to Colombo at 08.30 in the morning will be delayed by a few hours.
The railway department said that the work of removing soil from the railway line blocked by the Paskanda landslide has started and it will take a few more hours.
